Greeting from the President
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
The Mongolian Academy of Sciences (MAS) is the nation’s center for the development and promotion of sciences in Mongolia. A history of scientific knowledge in Mongolia is dated back to 13th century, when Khublai Khan, a grandson of Chinggis Khan, ordered to establish the Hanlin and Historiography Academy in 1261. A modern system of science in the country, however, was initiated by the formation of the Institute of Literature and Script by the People's Government in 1921. It later expanded to the Institute of Science, the Institute of Science and Higher Education in 1931, and was organized as the Academy of Sciences in 1961.
During the course of more than six decades, the MAS became a chief scientific agency in the country with a mission to become a national scientific and technological center with a worldwide reputation that provides evidence-based knowledge for the Government decision-making and for the social, economic and cultural development of Mongolia. The MAS has two specialized academies, the Academy of Medical Science and the Agricultural Academy, six sub-assemblies and 16 research institutes. The MAS is an active member of 9 international scientific organizations and collaborates with more than 150 organizations worldwide.
The MAS is dynamically engaged in research and developmental efforts nationally and internationally. We will be happy to work with you in the fields of science, technology, and innovation. Our research institutes, scientists, and staff are always open to citizens, supporters, and partner organizations who value science, fruitful collaborations and real results.
PRESIDENT
